The work of Raymond Roussel is currently being exhibited at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS) from 26 October 2011 to 27 February 2012. Locus Solus. Impressions of Raymond Roussel showcases the work of an original novelist, poet and playwright who loved the imagination above all and created a special way of writing by using homonymic combinations. This peculiar compositional procedure was kept in secret until his death.
The exhibition displays the artworks of very well known artists like Man Ray, Alberto Giacometti, Max Ernst, Francis Picabia, Marcel Duchamp, Jean Tinguely or Salvador Dalí, all of them influenced and inspirited by the work of Roussel. Locus Solus also shows the influence of this admired French author on other writers like Julio Cortázar and Michel Foucault among others.
Locus Solus. Impressions of Raymond Roussel gives the visitors and art lovers the opportunity to know the influence of this author on modern and contemporary art world. Paintings, drawings, ready-mades, sculptures, videos, photos and installations serve as a guide to better know the artist and his legacy.
