Caixa Forum Lleida is staging the major exhibition ever presented in Spain on the work of the photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue (Courbevoie, France 1894 – Nice, France 1986). The exhibition, A Floating World, opened to the public on 14 December 2011 and ran until 1 April 2012.

Although dedicated to photography from his childhood, this was not his main activity and Lartigue was known in his time because of his paintings, exhibiting in galleries, art shows and salons all over the country. Jacques Lartigue started having a name as a photographer at the age of 69 with his first retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MOMA) in 1963.

The photographs display on the present exhibition at Caixa Forum Lleida show an artist inspired by the feeling of happiness and with a great sensitivity to capture the beauty of life.
