MAURICE SENDAK ILLUSTRATIONS ART IN SAN FRANCISCO

The Walt Disney Family Museum (San Francisco, USA) holds the exhibition “Maurice Sendak: 50 Years, 50 Works, 50 Reasons”.

Maurice Sendak (New York 1928, Connecticut 2012) was a famous illustrator and author of books for children. From a very young age he felt attracted to draw and soon he began to illustrate children’s book, although his personal view and his particular interpretation of the stories would be opposed by those who found his illustrations too scary for children.

The exhibition, running until next 7 July 2013, showcases over 50 works made by this talented artist and includes more than 50 illustrations from his very famous story Where the Wild Things Are. Maurice Sendak’s oeuvre, as an illustrator and also a writer, is widely recognised throughout the world.
